Stu!

Here is all of the Stu poses I've done this semester. This is just a rough, thrown together to get an idea of what I've been doing. I have to modify a couple of the poses a little bit, but anyway, take a look!

Stu!

Finals!

Alllrighty,

So unfortunately I did not get everything together last night, I went and saw "The Day The Earth Stood Still" with Bobby instead. haha. BUT, its all together now! So, hopefully this will upload, and here it is! My entire Semester's worth of Class 1: Basic Foundations work!

Check it out!

AWESOME!

Im pretty proud of it overall, which is good, cuz that doesn't always happen. haha. But yea, VERY glad to have it up! So take a look!

Also, I will be posting the Stu poses all together, hopefully in a few minutes once I throw them all into a quicktime to scroll through. Im not sure if I need to include those in the final animations or not to turn in, but I will probably do it anyway just to have everything together to show.

Ok, back to work!

SKIPPING!

So I just finished animating my "Personality Walk," where I chose to have the character skipping across the screen. This assignment required we incorporate a 3/4 view of the motions. I put three views in this, just so everyone can get a look at how he moves from all angles. Im REALLY happy with this so far. This is one of the few animations I've done this semester that I'm really pretty happy with. A few things I'd change on the next go around (cuz its due now), would be speeding up the "hang time" a little bit, I think its a bit slow, and maybe a little more overlap. We'll see what kind of comments I get on it after the weekend!

Take a look!

:-D probably by the end of today I will have my final "Portfolio" of this semester's work up as well. Can't wait! Semester's over on Wednesday (well, for me before I head out to Michigan for some holiday time), and then we start back up on January 5th. SO EXCITED!!!!!!

Coming up to the end...of Semester 1!

So, my entire "portfolio" for Semester 1 at Animation Mentor is due in about a week and a half. So excited to be moving on to the next class!!!!!! I have some new work to post here, so lets get started!!

Alright, so I revised Ballie's "Vanilla Walk", and here it is!

I feel much better about it than the last one. I feel like there is still some improvement that could be made, like the knees are still popping, which I of course don't like, and a couple of other things, but I'm still figuring out how to achieve those improvements. Much happier with it than before though!

This past week we had to do our "Character Walk," and a lot of people chose to do the "sneaky walk", there are a lot of diagrams and reference for it, and I had done a sneaky walk in the past, so I decided to try my hand at a skipping "walk" if you could call it that.

This week was just the blocking stage, and I definitely have some modifications to make (rotation along some more of the axis to make his movement more dynamic and interesting...also more life-like, etc), but here is my first go at it at least:

Skipping

So now this week is to revise the skipping walk, and add a 3/4 view to it, along with a new sketched Stu Pose. Looking forward to it. Im definitely enjoying really getting into this stuff to make it look smoother...its intimidating sometimes for me to get into the curves and mess around with things, theres just SO much to work on and so much to know, but I am feeling much more confident about it then I have in the past. Especially considering I didn't ever even USE the Graph Editor in 4 years of Animation at JMU! Wow...I don't know how I did that. Hahaha. Well, one thing is for sure, my animations are looking much better now than they did before. I love Animation Mentor :-D

Starting to look for some serious employment too because my internship at Henninger is coming to an end. Trying to see what opportunities I can come up with, and its nice that I've had some help from my coworkers there, and from my friends. :-) Hoping something will pan out for me, even if its another internship!

The search continues!

Now to get to those emails that I need to send out...to get those jobs!

Thanksgiving!!

Allrighty, so its been insanely busy, again, as always, but Im going to post some animation FINALLY rather than just some poses. :-D SO, I just revised some of my walk cycle, still looks kind of funny to me, but Im not sure whats wrong with it yet. Posted it to AM for my class to take a look at, so hopefully I can revise it again and post the final later on. Either way, here it is!

Ballie and his "Vanilla Walk":

Here is Tailor that I just did last week as well. I think he still needs some revisions, but this is what I turned in :-)

Tailor:

I really liked working with Tailor. I found that I got kind of confused with the successive breaking of joints sometimes, but I feel like it turned out ok. Some spots I would probably go over and modify again, as always.

Here is my Pendulum animation. We did this one before we did Tailor. This I found really difficult, I had trouble with the joints and some of the timing, but overall I think it turned out alright as well.

Pendulum:

Alrighty, well, thats it so far. I'll try to get better at posting more on this more often. I've still got a bunch of poses and sketches to put up. :-)

Thanksgiving time!

Busy as hell...but FINALLY an update!

Ooookay, so its Saturday, and I am FINALLY able to sit down for a little bit and get to put something of substance up here! I'm living a bit of an insane life right now, I have an internship at a Production company (who I'm hoping will hire me when it ends *crossing fingers*) on Mondays and Wednesdays, I work at the Cheesecake Factory restaurant on Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays, along with some days on the weekends when I have homework done to pick up shifts, and then of course Animation Mentor! Which has been AMAZING, but I definitely wish I had some more time to focus on it. Oh yea, and I have another semi-job that I have been picking up when I have only a half day at Cheesecake Factory (CCF) at my Chiropractor's office. haha. So, yea, on top of Triathlon training, its been tough. Getting up at 5 every morning to work out, then awake or out until after midnight most nights. *sigh*

Anyway, on to the Animation part!! So, I have now been in Animation Mentor for about 7 weeks (not counting the 6 weeks over the summer when I did a Maya Springboard Class). My mentor is Chad Sellers, awesome AWESOME guy, and my class freakin rocks. Apparently we're some of the most talkative and energetic classes on the site right now, which I feel really greatful for. Everyone is always sending out messages, advice, video reference, and just random funny jokes or information. I am so surprised at how close everyone gets, especially in an online atmosphere. I have learned SO much more from my classmates and my mentor in that 7 weeks than I even came close to in 4 years of JMU Animation class. *But its cool, our professor there sucked anyway*, haha, and I KNOW all of my JMU classmates will agree.

Alright, well, Now I am going to post some of my work so everyone can get a taste of what I've been spending my free time on. :-D

Ok, so we started off posing this character called Stu. Here are some of the first things I came up with:

1. Any emotion or pose you want. This is the first idea I came up with and actually turned in. I like to include a Silhouette as well with the poses just to get a better idea of it :-)

2. This is the second one I came up with, it was more of an excited pose I guess.

3. This is one of my favorites, I thought it was kinda funny... Haha. Dude passed out asleep :-D I don't like the angle of it very much, I'd change the camera, but still, you get the idea.

Then we had to show some more specific ones like, Devastated and then specifically Excited. So, here are the ones I came up with for that!

1. Devastated

2. Excited

Alllrighty. SO, there are my final poses so far. I had a couple of others, ones I didn't turn in, but I will post them later. Now, I should actually get started on finishing up my Homework thats due tomorrow!

I'll probably post some more tonight I hope, try and get more of my work up for people to see :-).

Hello!

So, just getting started on this thing. I've been looking for a way to display some of my work in Animation Mentor as I go through the course for the next 18 months. So far it has been a great experience, I just need to keep myself on task! Working a job, being an intern, AM class, and training for Marine Corps Marathon at the end of this month, AND hopefully a Half Iron Man Triathlon in the spring, its been a little busy!

I'll be posting some of my work up here very soon. Watch for it!
